So tonight I'm sprawled across my bed and my mind is racing as usual. Work was a blur as it was insanely busy. Holiday weekends always are up there. I truly love my job - which I understand not many people can say! I was soaking off my acrylic nails earlier while watching Grease for the millionth time, and I kept seeing ads for some blog site. The name is monumentally unimportant, but I figured maybe it was a sign from the universe to get off my ass and start writing again. So, here I am. A google later and I have a blogspot. And yes, I say words like "ass." Get happy in the same pants if that pisses you off.

So when I agreed to move in with my roommate, her weenie dog, Max, was her only pet. Houdi was not part of the deal. But, Houdi is indeed here with us. He's an English Bulldog, and is very interesting to say the least. He has learned to do charming things like open cabinets, move furniture, and destroy toilet paper, wooden spoons, flip flops, etc. More recently, however, he has learned to bark. He is generally pretty quiet, but when the roomy is gone, he kind of loses it. And he lets me know about it on an hourly basis. The last time she was out of town, Houdi and Max were under my care. I generally don't mind this as I have a dog of my own and they're pretty much part of the family. Well, Max also has a thing about barking about every hour all night long until the roomy comes home. He's small and easily transported to her bedroom for lockdown. Houdi on the other hand weighs a healthy 65 pounds, and is horrifically stubborn. The last time I was in charge of the tribe, I had burritos for dinner. I picked up my burrito and very loudly smacked and made happy eating noises as I walked into the roomy's bedroom. Of course, Houdi, Max, and Sissy followed. Houdi is pretty sharp in that when he sees you moving toward the door of the bedroom, he has a tendency to do the same. He does not favor being locked away from the action. Well, I ripped off a piece of tortilla and chunked it toward the bathroom and ran. I slammed the bedroom door shut. I had managed to, for the first time ever, capture both Houdi and Max in the bedroom at the other end of the house. For the first time in a long time, I slept like a brick. Victory over a dog shouldn't feel so good! The good news is that I now have the perfect solution to things that go bark in the night!
